Memoir from Mar C A Day of Fasting

The Prophet has asked everyone who is able to fast today. I’m glad in that it gives me peace and comfort. The Coronavirus continues to spread every where and we have been asked to continue to stay at home. I’m grateful that GW has been able to work at home. About once a week he is called to inspect a dam on the Wasatch front which gets him outside and around beautiful nature.

Since Utah has been experiencing the virus we also continue to have small earthquakes. Thank goodness we don’t feel them in Utah Valley anymore but GW’s department has been put on alert. All last week I worked on his 72 hour kit in case he has to be gone for two or three days. I feel comforted knowing he will have food and necessities that will help him in case of an emergency. Now I need to update my kit.

I’m also happy to report that our Jessie made it home safe from California last week. She has been on a fourteen day quarantine lifestyle. I’ve been taking meals over to her house and she probably won’t be able to visit us at our home until GW’s cough goes away. He’s never had very good lungs, so when he got a cold five weeks ago I was sure he had pneumonia. Luckily the doctor informed him that it was just a bad cold. We are being very careful to just STAY AT HOME!

I finally learned how to register on line with a program called Zoom. In fact I’ve had a steep learning curve trying to figure out how to help teach six year olds on a computer. Luckily I work with patient people who take it slow and let me observe before trying it on my own! I also got to witness my first Title l meeting with all the aides from my school. That was kind of fun.šŸ™‚

Life continues to move forward and thanks to family and good friends I think we’ll survive. Julie’s companion went home yesterday so tomorrow we find out about her two new companions. My neighbors  came home last week from their missions. One from the Philippines and the other from South Africa. They are also on a two week quarantine just to be safe. Jared Ockey who came home from Africa told me that some of his former companions from Australia and England didn’t make it out on time since the Durban Airport has shut down.

Jared also has a sister Hanna who is still serving in the Czech Republic. Her family will find out hopefully this week when she will be coming home. I’ve enjoyed reading her emails and other missionary emails. They are so inspiring.

So much to pray and fast about! I’m so looking forward to General Conference!!
