Another Year at Amelia Earhart Elementary

Well I survived another year teaching reading at Amelia Earhart. I think I had the best schedule since I started ten years ago. Recess for me was only fifteen minutes, Monday through Thursday.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with Linda Gunn and Kaye Eldredge in first grade every day. I learned so much from them and they have been great school teachers for many years!
Then I got to teach the 95% curriculum to second graders for an hour. Those kids brought pure joy to my table. Even the difficult students have lot’s of love and want to please.  I polished my teaching skills by allowing the students to rotate their skills and keep their momentum going.

The photo above shows me teaching ERI to Kindergarten students. They are so much fun at the beginning of the year due to their shyness and age. By the time April moves around they are ready to read and move on.

The most challenging group for me was 4th grade. I did the 95% curriculum with them as well only it was later in the day which can be challenging since fatigue starts to take over in some groups. Luckily  I was given some creative time so we could read some Harry Potter!

Tomorrow is my last day and I will really miss the kids. They are what makes my job so much fun and rewarding! But I think I’m ready to start really focusing on wedding plans and enjoy a wonderful summer!!
