Mack Family
I must write about a wonderful person who I served with in the Primary Presidency for almost three years. Her name is Candy Mack and she is a very amazing individual! She is always fun to be with and has lots of enthusiasm!! Candy has so much faith and was determined to do on-line Primary during Covid.
Last summer she mentioned to me during one of our meetings that she always wanted to be a wedding planner and was thinking about getting into the business. She and her husband helped many poor couples plan their wedding when they attended BYU Hawaii.
At the end of December Candy and I with the second counselor in the primary were sitting in our bishops office. We had just been released from our calling when Candy mentioned to me that she had bridal gifts for Julie’s bridesmaids. I was taken back at first because Julie and Coleton had just gotten engaged a few weeks before. I didn’t even know who Julie’s bridesmaids were going to be at that time. Later on in the evening it hit me that Candy wanted to help with Julie’s wedding plans and that’s how she was hitting me up for the job. I immediately told Julie and we all got very excited! I knew we would be in very good hands with Candy!!
Now that it’s the end of July and I feel pretty rested from all the past six months of planning, I can honestly say Candy was truly a gift for our entire family! My adult children were so happy to not have to help me with all the food that was served at the wedding breakfast as well as the reception. I have included them in years past for other sibling weddings and at times it was pretty stressful. Everyone still had to decorate and help clean up at the end of the day but serving food is a big deal when it comes to weddings. Having Candy help me line up catering and BYU food services was a life saver this time around. We were all able to celebrate Coleton and Julie’s special day in a more relaxing way.
I feel the best part of having my friend help us is that Julie and I were able to sustain a great relationship during the six months of organizing. Planning was still stressful at times but it was a good stress and the excitement remained intact. I will always be grateful for Candy Mack!
