Still in Bend

Every morning I wake up and think about how bizarre my life is right now. You really just can't know how it is as a missionary - especially a quarantine missionary haha - until you just do it. But then at the end of the day I'm so happy and grateful to be here in Bend.

Funny highlights of this week:
- Sister Fillmore asked our zone leaders if they made popcorn in a crockpot. (She was serious, but don't worry she did know that popcorn is made normally in the microwave.) Popcorn in the crock pot has been a running joke this week.

- I got hit on by three seperate muslim guys from Morocco in one day. So that's awkward. Definitely referred them to the Elders haha.

- We were reading in the handbook about having a code word when we feel like leaving a possibly bad situation. I suggested "asparagus" but apparently that's too bizarre because Sister Fillmore laughed until she cried a lil. So we are going with "I forgot my red jacket at the apartment."

I'm grateful because Sister Fillmore and I are finally figuring out this whole finding-people-to-teach-on-Facebook situation. We have had some really good conversations with people who live here in Bend that we have discovered on Facebook! There are definitely days we go stir-crazy though.

Yesterday I had a really special experience:

Because of the laws and restrictions here in Oregon, the last time I had the sacrament was Easter Sunday. Before that, it had been a month since I had the sacrament as well.

Yesterday we got permission to have our Bishop administer the sacrament to us. For me, it was my second time taking it in over two months. We met up with him and another family at the church. (Honestly haven't been around that many people for literally two months, it was SO weird to see everyone in person haha.)

Immediately when I heard the words  "O God, The Eternal Father" I unexpectedly got really emotional. It was so intensely sweet to hear those prayers - and moreso to feel God's power here on Earth. It's been a little sad to not be able to take the sacrament every week, but it has given me a deeper appreciation of what it means to me, and how blessed we are to have God's power on the earth.

I know that this is Christ's church on the Earth. I'm very grateful that I have the opportunity to help others and testify to them that the Book of Mormon is true. That this gospel brings everlasting happiness, and that Christ can heal the wonds that we cannot.
